So you are thinking of booking your tickets to Mongolia, but not exactly sure how many days you should spend in Ulaanbaatar?
4 days is more than enough to see the hotspots, landmarks, go shopping, and experience the Ulaanbaatar city life.
If you are planning on visiting a few places nearby the city, then you probably should add about 2-3 days on your calendar.
UB itself though is a very small city, and in fact, if you actually decide to hire a private Ulaanbaatar guide, you could probably see most of what there is to see in a day or two.
Where Should You Go During The Night-Time?
Huuhdiin 100, is where the nightlife is at if you want to party and have some fun. From plenty of foods served out of kiosks, nightclubs, to restaurants, the night street of UB is where most of the tourists go to have fun during the night.
Your first 1 or 2 nights might be exciting and new, but you could probably see all of the places in one night since the UB night street is not that long.
If you like dancing, there are clubs such as Choco, and Zu where young professionals usually go to parties.
Where Should You Go During The Daytime?
During the daytime, you should definitely visit some of the hotspots and popular destinations which are provided on this list.
However, I would recommend going to Zaisan and Bogd Uul Mountain to get a picturesque view of the city.
How Long Does It Take To Go To Terelj?
Terelj national park is about 50km from the city center, and usually, it takes 2 hours to get there, so 4 hours in total if including the return trip.
Expect to spend a whole day if you plan on seeing Terelj National Park and the turtle rock.
How Long Does It Take To See Chinggis Khaan Statue
Tsonjin Boldog or the Chinggis Khaan Statue is the same distance as Terelj from the city center. Terelj and Chinggis Khaan Statue are very close to each other, so you could see both of them in 1 day.
I would recommend you to stay at least one night at one of the resorts of your choosing. Though if you choose to not spend the night if you leave early in the morning around 9, you could expect to get back by 9 or 10.
